How We Operate

Committee

Harbour Bears Pre-School is managed by a committee which is elected at the Annual General Meeting held mid-September. The committee has a vital role as it is responsible for the management and smooth-running of the group. All parents/carers are welcome to attend the AGM and volunteer to become a committee member to help with decision making and fundraising. The committee holds informal meetings every 4-6 weeks during the evening.

Funding

Harbour Bears Pre-School receives funding to enable us to offer funded places for children in their pre-school year. Harbour Bears Pre-school, like all other educational establishments, heavily relies on financial support from its members and the local community to ensure that our service can be maintained. Throughout the year fundraising events are held to raise money to purchase new equipment or replace damaged equipment, or for our continuing building fund for our new premises. We would ask for, and greatly appreciate, your support with any fundraising events.

Premises

Harbour Bears Pre-school operates from the council-owned Curran Bowling Pavilion on the Curran Road in Larne.

Harbour Bears is part of the Department of Education for N.I (DENI) Pre-school Expansion Programme. The pre-school receives funding to enable us to offer funded places to children in their pre-school year. Places which are secured under the programme are part-time and provided for 38 weeks over the school year (September to June). Inspections are carried out by the Education and Training Inspectorate.

Our Pre-School is part of the Department of Education for Northern Ireland (DENI) Pre-School Expansion Programme.
